Greetings from Pittsburgh, the home of three rivers stadium.
One of the rivers is susquehanna. If that sounds like an Indian
name (which it is, of he red-skinned persuasion), how about the
other rive - manangehEla!

Vasu asked for the text of jaya-jaya-jaya-priya-bhArata ... by
DVKS, but why give the simple text, when i can weave a couple of
anecdotes around it!

Yesterday while we were driving on the Penna Turnpike [wondering
why we are paying for the 'privilege' of using this highway, with
all the construction work, single lanes, lower speed limits (fines
double in the work areas, maximum $1000!); when if there is any
justice in the world, they ought to pay us], Aravinda was trying
to memorize the lyrics, for singing them tonight at the mid-night
candle light vigil at the University of Maryland campus. It is going
to be complete with flag hoising at mid-night, and some (let's call
it 'dESee') caroling. For details, look at the "Association for
India's Development" home page.

Well, when we reached the SV Temple of Pittsburgh, what do we find?
Sree pemmarAju sUryA rAvu gAru teaching the song to Sreenivas, vald kASee
viSwanAdham. I guess it is the song of the moment. Along with the
complete text - not just the first verse! - of jana-gaNa-mana ...

Okay, okay, here's the text.

jaya jaya jaya priya bhArata janayitree, divya dhAtri
jaya jaya jaya Sata sahasra nara-nAree hRdaya nEtri

jaya jaya sa-SyAmala su-Syama cala-ccElAncala
jaya vasanta kusuma latA calita lalita cUrNa kuntala (*)
jaya madeeya hRdayASaya lAkshAruNa pada yugaLA

jaya diSAnta gata Sakunta divya gAna paritOshaNa
jaya gAyaka vaitALika gaLa viSAla patha viharaNa
jaya madeeya madhura gEya cumbita sundara caraNA

Why the trek to Pittsburgh? vempaTi ravi-Sankar was giving a short
performance at the Temple, before leaving back for India. He presented
just three items,

jayamu jayamu lalita kaLA vANiki by bhujanga rAya Sarma
ksheera sAgara Sayana, nanu by tyAgarAja
	praLaya payOdhi jalE by jayadEva

* - This line is a little too long. Doesn't fit the 4x(6-mAtra)
structure the ret of the lines have. I can't believe DVKS, the
deliberate wordsmith would have compromised with that. I sense a
typo in the text that I am using. The lady from Culver City has
access to a better source, I believe. I think we'll hear from her,
if she hasn't already posted it.
