Properties of #pulusu# ? Besides taste, preservability is one of its fantastic
properties. Being inherently acidic, pulusu can be preserved over long periods
of time ranging
anywhere between 6 hours to 2 days without refrigeration; with refrigeration,
the life is extended to a week. This is of great benefit to the ergomaniac busy
NRT community. Nutritionally, #pulusu# has plenty of C vitamin, some protien
and small number of calories; Any of the vitamin advantages of the
vegetables contained in the pulusu are lost through over boiling. Pulusu is
highly soporific & the chief cause for afternoon naps in classrooms and
offices (a property commonly shared with its Tamil cousin #sAmbAru#). It is
my theory that preserving #pulusu# for a few hours or more increases its
alchohol content automatically, thus explaining its soporific properties. [It is
my sincere conjecture about history that Viswamitra had castigated his sons
to the Telugu nAdu for their indulgence in #pulusu#, thereby by sleeping too
much and neglecting their ordained scriptural duties & we thus became the
rightful heirs to pulusu. It is also my guess that #duryOdhana# was under the
inebriating effects of a long saved #pulusu# dish when he tried to disrobe
#draupadi#].
Looking into future, I can see many visions about our great Telugu pulusu: of
Macdonalds pateting our pulusu and serving it as Mac-pulusu, pizza-hut
opening a new joint called #pulusu-pAka#, of Safeway selling #pulusu# in
cans, of Pepsi and Coke imitating #pulusu# with the name Tamarind beer (or
some such), instant pulusu bags by Lipton or P&G - the possibilites are
