      I agree with your intention. But I think there is a little gray area. 
     I think it is a basic human urge for near and dear ones to have a last 
     glimpse atleast.Whether or not it is logical, it is certainly a 
     poignant emotional need and I am not convinced to call it 
     "sentimentality".

     Both are equally deserving of ones contribution. I do not think one is
     exclusive to other. Also there is no end to such comparisons. Another 
     one may say it is better to send that money to someone who is waiting 
     for some operation to be performed for survival instead of destitute 
     students to be educated. 
     Also, money can be sent to destitute students tomorrow, if not today. 
     But the help to console the victim's family can only be done now. 
     There is no second chance for helping them. That makes a difference.
     I pray that the victims family have the strength to bear the loss.
