only a couple of days ago, dinesh (my labmate at UIUC) was asking
me if 'brOcEvArevarurA' was a tyagaraja kRti. although i knew
the answer was a simple 'no'(i had seen the 'SankarAbharaNam' cassette
folder), i explained...
O caturAnanAdi vandita nIku parAkElanayyA?
nI caritamu pogaDalEni nA cinta tIrci varamulicci vEgame...
except for "caturAnanAdi vandita", all the other words
were in simple telugu. after reading 'jagadAnanda kAraka',
one gets the feeling that tyagaraja kRtis are full of
complex samskRutAndhra samAsAs. so, most probably it
wasn't from tyagaraja and then, there was no 'tyagaarja
vinuta...'.
: though the song in the movie doesn't have the tag phrase, "tyAgarAja
: vinuta" or some variation of it. Only recently I came to know that it is
: a composition of mysore vAsudEvAcAr. Of course, now it is so obvious,
:
: bhAsuramuga karirAjunu brOcina
: vAsudEvuDavu neeve kadA! in khamAs
i find that interesting. unlike 'tyAgarAja vinuta',
'vAsudEvuDavu' is so unconspicuous, given the context
of the kIrtana. does it appear in the rest of his compositions
too?
:
: I wonder how many of such great kRtis we have heard, and casually
: thought them as of tyAgarAja?
