Knowest thou the real aim of Education
Not just to provide for jobs a qualification.
Not surely for acquisition of pelf and Power,
Nor for demand of a fat bridal dower.
It's a joint venture of the teacher and taught
Into the higher realms of knowledge and Thought.
It begins with the cradle and ends with the grave,
Teaches fortune's vicissitudes to brave.
It endeavours to fashion ston men of mettle
To be disciplined soldiers in Life's battle.
To increase one's depth of mind and breadth of vision
In a tight situation to take the right decission.
It fosters in one character and integrity,
Secular culture and devotion to duty.
To pettiness and temptation near to give in,
To make the world a better place to live in.
