as my prastuta mitra, JVC said, when I saw the word 'dAmAshA',

mean, approximate, and pro-rated

were the meanings that came to mind. Wasn't sure which was more
appropriate. Happened to see 'Andhra Sabda ratnAkaramu', at someone's
house this afternoon. The word was not in it. Sounds like a 'anya-
dESyamu', doesn't it?

Missed a great chance to pose the question generally to the audience
athis evening's Deepavali function in Washington DC. One or the other
there, from some area of Andhra Pradesh would have been familiar with this word.
Actually, I am hoping pAlana would have a response.

I asked for a poem in a previous message, and Sankhavaram Panini
supplied it. With a few corrections, and word breaks for easier reading,
here it is:

Harikrishna Tadepalli said it should be in the opening pages of Malati
Chandur's famous book, 'vanTalu-pinDi vanTalu'. Yes, now that he said it,
I remember it in it. BTW, the poem is describing the various food stuff
that is available at Vishnuchitta's house, isummer days.
