Telugu-izing foreign words seems to be an accepted tradition with a
"natural" transformation in the sense that the transformation is used
by native, Telugu-only speakers. Refer to Gurazada, Chilakamarti for
usages such as "kalakaTEru" (collector), "kanishTeepu" (constable).
There are of course a great many Urdu and Persian words that got
absorbed into Telugu.
Other languages such as Japanese do this as well--recently I was
reading in the paper about the new (in Japan) concept of "sekuhara"
for sexual harassment.
BTW, can someone explain the meaning of the word "dAmAsha" to me?
