In due course of time the telusA list shall act funny and some of you
will miss some of the mails sent to the list! You shall then
proceed to wonder - about this and that, about stuff in general.
"Why did this have to happen to me?", etc. Wonder not members of the list
telusA. Know how the "system" works.

The list-server is responsible for delivering mail to all the members
of a list. If a particular mail to a member of a list bounces back
it resends the message a few times before aborting. But, the
list-server archives all the mail it receives (pretty clever) -
i.e; all the mail sent to telusa@cs.wisc.edu. Anytime you feel you
have not received a mail you can check up the archives.

The following is a description of how you can access the archives.
There are three ways by which you can access the archives.

1) You can get (view) the files by using any web browser (netscape,
mosaic, lynx, etc). The url is:
ftp://ftp.cs.wisc.edu/list-archives/telusa

2) ftp: If you do not have a web browser handy, you can ftp anonymously to
ftp.cs.wisc.edu. The archives are present in the directory
/list-archives/telusa. You fill find several files dated according
to the year, month and week.

They are of the format logyy.mm.ww

yy is the year
mm is the month (jan,feb,mar,apr,may......)
ww is the week (a,b,c,d or e)

log95.oct.c is the file which contains all the messages that were
posted to the list during the third week of Oct, 1995.

3) The third method is by using email. You can send mail to
listproc@cs.wisc.edu with the body of the message as (say):

get telusa log95.oct.c

The list processor will send you the file log95.oct.c by email. If the
file is too big, it will send it to you in parts. If the file doesn't
exist the system will reply saying that there is no such file.

Going on to other things. You can change the settings of the list. For
example, you might want to receive mail from the list only once a day. If
you want that, send a mail to listproc@cs.wisc.edu with the body of
the message as:

set telusa mail digest

The digest is distributed at twelve noon everyday. There are several
other options which can be set. Send a mail to listproc@cs.wisc.edu with
the message content:

help set

and it will reply with a short description of all the parameters that can
be. If you have any questions regarding the functioning of the list,
please send a mail to me, I will be glad to help you out. Please do not
post it to the list.

P.S: I have converted the list-archives to the hypermail mode. Reading the
list-archives is a little easy this way. If you have a web browser you
can access the converted list-archives, the URL is
