The question about avanuja/avanija reminds me of a book I recently acquired.
It is 'The penguin book of Hindu names' by Maneka Gandhi (yes, the very one).
It has close to 20,000 Hindu names with their literal meanings,
implied/intended meanings and the specific mythological /literary /
botanical context. Very interesting book.

Incidentally avanuja is not in that book, but avanija:
son of earth, king (I think that this entry leaves a lot to be desired:
it should be the child of earth; and there should also be a reference to
seeta.)
