I know a discussion on this is reducing this mailing list to a private
newsgroup :-) That I treat is a time-out from all the 'good-stuff-only'
that happens on this mailing list :-) :-)

Before I go on I want to say, I more or less agree completely with Bapa Rao
on what he worte regarding this.

Unmoderated soc.culture newsgroups are like the streets. Meaning
FREE_FOR_ALL :-) Maintaining sanity depends on who is wondering on them!
Main problem being, we can't enforce anything.

Unmoderated ==> can't restrict acess to(I am for unmoderated s.c.*
newsgroups). Formation of TELUSA(by invatation) is to stay away from the
heat of those streets for those who can't stand it. I am not in a position
to advocate if TELUSA should be open for all, as my contributions
are minimal and am glad that I have the opportunity to read the good stuff
that is posted by many/all knowledgeable folks. Elitism/privacy are things
that come to mind when mailing lists like TELUSA are formed. I am not sure
if there is anything wrong in forming such groups. After all one has a right
to assemble/organise based on one's/groups' interests. More so one has a
right to minimise wasting time because of these interests. Hence TELUSA and
not SCIT(as it takes lot of time to get a bit of info on SCIT).

Nuff lecturing on why groups like TELUSA are formed.

Do I believe if SCIT OR s.c.*s can be rescued? I am exteremely pessimistic
about it. This, I am saying out of experience of reading the news groups
for 4+ yrs. Like I said above, main problem being, we can't enforce
anything.

I try not to resort to name-calling and do not tone down my response if I
think that will not convey something strongly when I want it to. This
did/can lead to flames from some not so tolerant folks. Name-calling ensues
over time and rest is katha kanchiki...

I am sure a lot of times people tried to bring back sanity either by whining
or requesting politely and even these get flamed. So for now I am not for
bringing sanity OR educating the educated folks with Telugu literature on
SCIT. If any one of us know a friend who is interested in gaining access to
this mailing list, I am sure we can submit our request to Ratnakar or
Ramakrishna P(illamarri) garu or whoever else is helping in maintaining
TELUSA. I hope a big mailing list is not a problem but having to read
unwanted stuff is.

Regards,

Ramakrishna. P(idaparti).
