Dirty green waters of the Bay of Bengal, roaring tirelessly around the
clock, filling the air around the JVD College of Science & Technology
with salt spray and fishy scent - there came a gentlman on his scooter
with an above legal speed limit through the outgate of the great a'mdhra
viswakaLa' parishat (Andhra University) and asked "Would you like to have
a ride Narasimham ga'roo?" "Sure!" I said. We went to Chinna Waltair
and opposite to the II Town Police Station this gentleman lived. He was
a student of the department of Pharmacy and worked with Dr. Subbarao (the
then head of the dept. of Pharmacy - my father's best friend and batch
mate). We had a cup of tea and discussed worldly matters, departmental
politics and about Pesaratla Subbarao (Dr. Subbarao used to be called -
either Rajani or Janamanchi named him this way - according to my dad).
Then the gentleman slowly discussed about his latest story in preparation.
This gentleman is Sri Pippalla Suryaprakasa Rao. For almost two years,
frequently, we used to meet and discuss various aspects of life and
and literature.

More than a score and a half years, Sri Suryaprakasa Rao is
well-known to the readers of the popular magazines (Andhra Prabha,
Patrika, and Jyothi etc) in and out of Andhra Desa. Sri Rao is a superb
story writer (above all a good story teller too). He can come up with a
plot in no time. He always has something going on at behind his mind for
an upcoming story. Sri Rao has a good sense of humor and it is really a
pleasure carrying out conversation with him.

After finishing his bachelor's degree, Sri Rao worked in Orissa
(Berhampur area - where I did my college studies) and was busy with
his profession and in spite of the work load and pressure, he still
continued his hobby of story writing. We used to discuss culture and
lifestyles of the Orissans and Oriyas - his multicultural exposure adds
a spice to his creative writing style.

Sri Suryaprakasa Rao (as I know him more than a decade and half ago)
is Dr. Suryaprakasa Rao and is on the faculty at the Howard University
of Washington D.C.. As a responsible father, scientist, and teacher he
still writes stories in Telugu and his stories appear in the Telugu
magazines of the North America.

It is a great pleasure to have Dr. Rao as a member of TELUSA.
On behalf of all the telusa'LLu, I welcome Dr. Pippalla Suryaprakasa Rao
to join the TELUSA DARBAR.

Welcome Sri Suryaprakasa Rao ga'ru
