And right now the said daughter (home for holidays?) is probably
quite happy for a variety of reasons, (chief of which may be "amma cEti
vanTa"), but one of which (I can't see how she could have managed to
escape the hyped-up-hoopla on the campus) may be that this year,
finally, (there is a just God looking out for the underdog!) after all
these heart-braeking years, the perennial door-mat of Big Ten, the
vaunted (or wanted, they always wanted a win, seldom got it) Northwestern
not just eked out a few wins this season, not just had a winning season,
but managed to be the Big Ten champion, and as a result is going to the
grand-daddy of all the bowls, The Rose Bowl.
So on New Year's Day, when you are channel-hopping, in search of a
serious discussion on the disappearance of "banDi-ra" in our literature
on one of the public access channels, if you hapopen to catch a bit of
the Rose Bowl (what's the other team? USC - Oh boy, in this case, we have
"in the other corner, a man determined to raise the mean quality of
SCIT postings by a single-hand, Bapa Rao!), know that unbeknownst to you,
you have a connection to it!
Come to think of it (I didn't when I started writing this) the group
is represented on both sides. There is no way we would lose!
For the uninitiated, keertana sadaananda is a second year Medical student
at Northwestern, and Bapa Rao is affiliated with USC.
