I agree with many (almost all, bar a couple) of the things said
by raamakRUshNa gaaru, particularly his abhorrence of the rudeness on the
net and the moderation required.

It seems to me there was a reluctance on our part to make
it be widely known that TELUSA exists. When a proposal was mooted to
create an alt group for Telugu literature, I did not say anything on SCIT
that a listserv already exists for that purpose - even though it was the
obvious thing to say. Neither did anybody else. I was afraid that some
people known for their hostile posts would join our exclusive, semi-secret
club and change the atmosphere here. That seems to be an unspoken pact
amongst us all: we will give the password only to those that we trust.

I am sorry if my previous posts gave the impressions that a)
TELUSA was an attempt to debilitate SCIT or b) the formation of TELUSA
was the sole reason of the sorry state of affairs on SCIT. They do
not reflect my position. SCIT has been on a down-hill road for quite
some time, and even before TELUSA was formed, most of the former frequent
posters on SCIT (and now frequent posters on TELUSA) stopped posting
regularly on SCIT. There are several reasons for this, not the least of
which were the Kulbir wave and an unusually (even for SCIT) hostile
posts by some frequent (non-TELUSA) SCITters.
But, SCIT was still vibrant even as late as August of this year
and now it is literally gasping for air. Other than Archana-ambati
discussions (which actually transcend Telugu), movie-news by
bhimaraaju, and the Tilak related postings by Macavarapu Madhav, there is
nothing Telugu related on sCIT this week. I think that many of us here on
TELUSA are really interested in seeing SCIT become vibrant again. But, if
we don't do anything soon, it will become increasingly difficult to do
anything about it.
I know fully well that the TELUSA postings, if pumped to SCIT,
would be responded to by some (I can even predict names) self-styled
defenders of something or the other. I think we have the maturity to
ignore them. But, this pumping of TELUSA posts would also interest some
others to read SCIT regularly and even post some.
All I am saying is let us all do something together, now.
