Some time back, Pillamarri was speaking of a class of poems
called `sarva laghu'.
It is possible to make a sarva-laghu kandam, which employs only
a guru at the end of each even line (unavoidable here).
But it is possible to make a sarva lagu `seesam' (with the tagging
poems as well sarva laghu). This will be true sarva laghu.
As a rule jaati ( kanda etc. ) and vritta padyaas can not be sarva laghu.
Only upajaati ( seesam, tETageeti etc. ) can be 100% sarva laghu.
Here is a sarva-laghu-kandam, taken from `gajEndra mOksha' kathaa
of pOtana bhaagavatam.
kan. aDigedanani kaDuvaDi janu
naDigina tana magaDu nuDuvaDani naDayuDugun
taDabaDu naDugula vaDivaDi
yaDugiDu naDugiDadu naDuma naDugiDu neDalan.
[ meaning, lakshmi surprised, that vishnu was in a
hurry never seen before, takes a few steps quickly
after the rushing vishnu thinking that she should
ask about it, and again woundering that her husband
wound not waste time in explanations, stop abruptly
and fumbles a few steps unsure what to do and again
runs after him in confused steps to see what is upto. ]
See the usage of `Da' guNitam in the above poem?
And see how the poet employes that to describe the mood
and action on the scene? See how `na' guNitam plays a
similar role in support.
About the third line, I am not too sure. Would some body
correct the line if they have the text or remember it well?
