Hello everybody

Few months ago I bought a couple Gs CDs in Tamil, while I was in Singapore.
Here are some details:

The first one is titled:INBA NERAM Vol. 1. BEST OF CHANDASALA (yes spelled
that way) "DUETS". It does not have any distributors or other such details,
but has an inscription: SM 2001.

There are a total of 24 songs. All are duets with susheela, leela, jikki,
banumathi and Balasaraswathi. All most all of them are re-rendered songs
from Telugu, from such films as maya bazar, devadass, chenchu laksmi,
anarkali etc. Some movie names are exactly as in Telugu, but others are
different, so even if I list the names they may not mean much. Likewise the
songs. Most songs were great ones in Telugu so they are equally as good in
Tamil. A noticeable feature is that the quality of recording is extremely
good, considering that all these songs are old ones and without exception
the original source would have been a 78 RPM record.

The other CD is called Pazhamai Entrum Inimai, The unforgettable Gandasala's
solo.KING CD 3013. As the title suggests they are solo songs and there are
25 of them. Once again they are old film songs first recorded in telugu. As
I have not had time to listen to them, I am unable to provide a list of
them, particularly their original telugu source songs. One song that merits
particular mention is the song Muthukku muthaga. I am almost certain this is
the last Tamil song G sang. This song is based on the thelugu song Baabu
vinaraa from pandanti Kaapuram, but a completely original superb tune. So I
guess it would have been about 1972. The quality of recording of this song
is particularly good. This song is one of my favourite G songs in Tamil.
Incidentally, SVR acted in the movie as was in the original telugu movie. G
sang this so well, personally I feel better than that in Telugu (although
they are different tunes) and as always he put lot of emotion in expression
of the lyrics of the song.

This second CD is distributed by King Audio & CO, New York.

For both I paid only about US$10. Certainly very good value for money
Recommended to be part of ones collection.
