namastE !

Welcome to the new member Sri Sudhakar Chelikani (and perhaps Sri
Devaraju Mohan too ... I am not sure if he is a new member )

I too am a relatively new member of this group. But in the short period
that I have been here I have enjoyed immensely the information and
insights that were shared in the discussions on various topics. I welcome
you to join the fun and share your knowledge and insights on various
issues related Ghantasala and Telugu film music.

I have a couple of suggestions w.r.t. your settling in into this group.
These are from my own experiences as a newcomer. Hope you don't mind.
It might be a good idea to scan the Ghantasala mailing list's archives
available on the WWW at

	http://smartcad.me.wisc.edu/~ratnakar/ghantasa/index.html

for the discussions that were held recently as well as some not so
recent ones. Then you can pick out topics you like, add your own
comments and start off a fresh new discussion. For example a couple of
weeks ago we had a discussion on Songs for Relangi by Ghantasala
which got converted into Ghantasala's comedy songs and we had a decent
list of songs . If you check out some of those mails you might add some
more songs without fear of reiterating something.

Please do not construe this as an irresponsible caustic remark. It was
made only with an intention of helping you to take note of certain means
of catching up with the group. If you feel that I have been impetuous please
accept my apologies.

There is another request/advice though. The group for the most part uses
RTS (Rice Transliteration Scheme) a de facto net standard for
( a description can be found at http://india.bgsu.edu/telugu/RIT/rts.html )
transliterating telugu. It would of great help to us if you could try and
conform at least partially to it when you write telugu words in English.

Please do not let these remarks stop you from contributing freely to this
group. If you do not like what I said -- never mind -- but please keep
contributing.

Sincerely,

--
Ramakrishna Sanka
