Do people remember G's harikatha in vAgdhAnam? I was written by srI
srI, and includes many of the nuances introduced by harikatha pitAmaha
Adibhatla nArAyana dAsu. The onomatopoeic play on words (gallu, gubillu,
jallu) very vividly conjures up the scene at sEthA swayamvara. I have
heard this 'word play' borrowed and used by many harikatha artists, mostly
without acknowledging srI srI's authorship.
Interestingly, the actor who performed the harikatha is rAElangi. A
question: doesn't G usually alter his voice slightly to suit NTR (more
bass) and ANR (a slight hint of nasal overtones). Did he do something
similar when he sang for rAElangi? I think he did for the song in
mAyAbazAr (sundari...), but I can't notice it in the harikatha in
vAgdhAnam. I am new to this group and I am not aware whether this has
been discussed before or not.
Supplementary questions:
1. Can anyone recollect anymore songs that G sang for rAElangi?
2. Did G sing anymore harikathas?
Regards,
Sudhakar.
